Open source projects are driving the world and are used hundreds of millions of times. With the CNCF Technical Advisory Group for Environmental Sustainability, we want to support open source and cloud native projects to become more energy efficient and use this multiplier. For this, you need to have a baseline of measurement so that you can learn und understand the power hungriness of your application to start an optimization. Therefore we leveraged the idea of the Green Software Foundation (GSF) Software Carbon Intensity (SCI) specification. In this talk, I will show you our approach to how we want to support the cloud native and FOSS community giving a simple example and an easy self-deployed solution. Learn from our mistakes and how you can get started with your optimization.
